I was challenged to demonstrate the entire manufacturing process for a part, from initial project creation all the way through final documentation using the TopSolid 7 platform. So, this series of videos walks you through the completion of that challenge and demonstrates how TopSolid 7, a very robust design and machining platform, allows users to operate at a much higher plane.

After completing this challenge and making the resulting series of videos available to you, I decided to extend the challenge. To that end, we created the Program Your Part Challenge in which I invite you to challenge me with your problem part and/or manufacturing challenges.

We are now going to organize our assembly after we have created it. The way we built this assembly is what TopSolid calls in-place design. We used a little bit of bottom up assembly design, but we also did a fair amount of in-place design where we designed within the context of the assembly so that we can create some strong relationships within our design.

I created an in-place sub-assembly which will make the machine parts setup document we are going to create in the next video a lot easier.  The creation of this subassembly is one of the great new features launched within the 2018 version of TopSolid which is the ability to create subfolders within the context of the in-place sub-assembly. This allows us to much more effectively organize our work.
